Tiger is one tough dude

with 3 comments

I know Chuck Norris will always be the perfect example of toughness, but Tiger Woods is doing his best impression at Torrey Pines this week.

Tiger finished out his final nine holes Friday in 30 – pulling away from Phil Mickelson and putting himself a stroke behind the two-round leader, Stuart Appleby.

But he’s far from 100 percent.

According to my media source at Torrey Pines, Tiger has slightly hurt the knee on which he recently had surgery and is now walking with a noticeable limp.

“He tweaked it,” the source said. “But he’s one tough guy.”

This isn’t his only time doing his best Chuck imitation. When Woods originally hurt his knee, it was obviously bad. Well, obvious to Tiger and his doctors, anyway.

“It was worse before the surgery and [the media] didn’t even know it was bothering him,” the source said.

People talk about Tiger’s mental toughness. Maybe they should start talking about his physical toughness, too.

  1. Props to Tiger for not letting on that he is hurt so that he has an excuse if he plays bad.

  2. Very true. Tiger’s definitely not that kind of athlete.

  3. the people in charge of marketing the PGA probably want Tiger Woods to return from surgery ASAP; he seems to have a huge effect on the level of viewership
