Adelante, an amazing example of a journalistic blog
Adelante is the the official Hispanic newspaper of the University of Texas, and they cover very relevant issues very well.
But they are not funded by UT like The Daily Texan and do not have an official Web site.
So Adelante registered for a WordPress blog and is performing what I consider amazing online journalism on a free blog. If you care about immigration issues and want to see some of the best young journalists covering the issue, visit adelanteonline.wordpress.com. In particular, their short documentary about the proposed border fence and how it will affect UT-Brownsville is absolutely outstanding. All Adelante videos can be accessed here on YouTube.
What’s amazing is this is a blog, just like mine and just like thousands of others. But they are covering issues and creating stories and documentaries that are as professional and impactful as any other news organization.
In my mind, Adelante’s blog is an amazing example of blogging as journalism.
It’s strange how we have the same avatar.

Hey, thanks for the kind words! I’m also graduating this week, but the UT community can look forward to more great material from Adelante next semester. They have a talented and motivated core with Jazmine and Co. Good luck with everything.
Cheers,
A.J.
